Bird watching and boat cruise at Lake Mburo

General Information About Lake Mburo National park

Lake Mburo National Park is located in southern Uganda along Mbarara – Lyantonde highway. Lake Mburo National Park lies in an area covered by extensive acacia woodland, and has different fauna than other reserves. This is the ideal park for any visitor to closely encounter the gigantic eland antelope, as well as zebra, topi, impala, and several acacia-associated birds on foot.

This park is one of the best places for bird watching. There are about 350 different bird species that hide in that Savannah vegetation, in the woodland, around the swampy areas like the Warukiri and also in Miriti and along the shores of the lake if you are interested in the water birds. There are some strategically located viewing platforms around the salt lick and from there, you can watch the animals when they converge for slat licking.

During your bird watching adventure, you can expect to see lots of birds like the Rufous-bellied Heron, Brown-chested Lapwing Bateleur, Black-bellied Bustard, Coqui Francolin, Emerald-spotted Wood-Dove, Grey Crowned Crane, Brown Parrot, Common Scimitar bill, there is the Red-headed Lovebird, the Ross’s Turaco, the Bare-faced Go-away-bird and many more others as you will see them during your walk in the park. If you are a very keen bird watchers, you will be able see more half of the park’s recorded population.

 

Day 1: Pick up from Entebbe

Our safari guide will pick you from a concurred point and start an 8 hour exchange to Bwindi situated in south west of Uganda on an energizing adventure of revelation.
